Far East Holiday 2009

This is Akshay's travel digest on his holiday to the Far East in 2009. He loved using the Word art tool and most of his titles would be done with those.

India - Bombay Khandala Pune

When I landed in Bombay I wasn’t that excited because I thought it would be boring. But the next day I went to the Gateway of India and it was exciting there, the waves from the sea were bouncing up the shore. I also saw a man swimming in the wild sea. I got big balloons and some water growing balls. We took few pictures and went back to our car. We drove down the area where Bollywood stars live and I saw Sharukh Khan’s house and Salman Khan’s apartment. We drove down Marine drive, I saw Nariman point then we went to the highest point in Bombay where there was a garden with a BIG BOOT made of stone.

We arranged a small meet up with my parent’s friend. We drove with him to his house in Pune.

On the way we stopped at Khandala and ate corn cob, It was misty and cold there.

Then we drove to Pune where my parent’s friend lived. They had 2 kids and I played with them. The next day we saw Pune and left for Bombay airport. When we reached the airport we took our flight to Bangkok.

Thailand, Bangkok, Pattaya

We landed in Bangkok in the night .I was sleepy so I ate food and went to bed. The next day I ate breakfast and we set off on our tour of Bangkok city. I went to Safari world and saw 3 shows. The first show was a Boxing Orangutan show. There were 2 sides, blue and red. The red team won. It was hilarious!!☺Then we saw a Cowboy show, it was just a little bit funny. Then there was a Dolphin show. We did not see it because we’ve seen so many Dolphin shows.

In the night we ate dinner and went to a Thai Cultural show. There was a scary part in it and so I closed my eyes till it was over.

I collected the Thai currency which is called Thai Baht.

Then I went to sleep. The next morning we went to see a Buddha temple. Buddha is a Thai God. It was a golden sleeping Buddha. It was 46 m long. There were 40 small pots in which I put coins in each and made wishes. We went to another show at Noong Nooch village where there was an elephant show and we took pictures with an orangutan and a tiger.

I stayed with my new friends in their hotel room while our parents went to a show. Late night my mom and dad picked me up and we went to our room where I stayed awake for a little while and then went to sleep. Next day we drove to Pattaya in the tour bus. In Pattaya there was a 56 storey high tower. There were 3 ways to get down the building. My dad went down single on a rope from the top to the bottom and we went down in a cable car with our new friends from the tour. Then we went back to our hotel to eat lunch. We relaxed in our room. In night we saw the Tiffany show. Next day we went to Coral beach in a motor boat.

The ride was bumpy .On the way we stopped at a platform where people go Para sailing and under sea walk.

I was a little scared to do both but I went for both and I had the thrill of my life and want to do it again. Then we arrived at Coral beach where I went jet skiing and I made an island on the sand. Then we went to the hotel and ate dinner and went to bed. The next day we left for the airport to go to Hongkong!!

Hongkong city and Disneyland

The first day we went on to a place where boats dock. We went on a boat and saw Jackie Chan’s boat. He is a famous actor .On the way we saw a floating restaurant called JUMBO. Then we went to the highest spot in Hongkong called Victoria’s Peak. We saw the whole of Hongkong from there. In the night we took a tram higher up to the peak. We saw lots of very tall buildings. I collected Hongkong dollars for my collection. There was a plastic 2 dollar note.

The next day we went to DISNEYLAND!!! We stayed at a hotel called Hollywood Disney Hotel. It was very nice. There was a coin stamping machine, I made 3 Disney coins. Then we went to the park. There were 4 places in the park. The first place was Main Street USA.2^ND place was Fantasy Land.3rd was Adventure Land.4^th and last one was Tomorrow Land. First I went to Tomorrow Land .I went on 4 rides. Then onto Adventure Land, we went on a river cruise and then on a raft to see Tarzan’s tree house. Then we went to see the Disney Parade. After that I saw Mickey Mouse’s house. I took a picture with Mickey and Minnie and wore Mickey’s shoes.

Then back to the hotel. Everything, including the food was shaped like Mickey. Next day I swam in the pool ate breakfast and left for Malaysia.

Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Genting Highlands                   A’Famosa

We landed in Malaysia.First day we had a city tour. I saw Patrons Towers and the KL tower.

I took a picture with a snake on my head there. Then we went to Sunway Lagoon. It is a theme park with lots of water and other kinds of rides. In the evening our friend came to pick us up and we went to their house. They had 2 daughters. I played with older one and then we all went to another friend’s house. They had a big dog called Champ. My classmate from Choueifat School, Lingess and his parents and brothers came there as well to meet us.

Next day we left for Genting Highlands in a cable car which took us above the tropical rain forests of Malaysia. We went for half an hour in the cable car through clouds up to the top of the mountain where our hotel was.Genting highland had a lot of rides and I went on every single one where I was allowed. I was not tall enough to take the bigger rides. There was a Dinosaur land there. We went in there in a boat. Then back to our hotel. Next day we left for A ‘Famosa.There we had a huge villa to ourselves with a pool. I saw a cowboy show there. I discovered a new kind of plant which I have never seen in Bahrain. They are called “Touch Me Nots”.When I touched the leaves they close up. Very nice! That is how they survive from being eaten up. Next day we went to BATU caves where there were many monkeys and I took a picture with an iguana and snake. There is a temple inside the caves.

Singapore City Sentosa Island

In Singapore we went for a city tour by DUCK TOURS.I got a duck whistle which when blown sounded like a duck, so through out the trip I was quacking like a duck!! This vehicle is a military vehicle which runs on road as well as sails in water. It took us around the city and we saw the fountain of wealth and the Singapore Flyer and all the other important places to see. The we went on the Singapore flyer. It is like a super big ferris wheel which goes very slowly and we can see the whole city from it.

In the night we went for a Night Safari. It was not a scary safari, it was a fun safari. Then we saw a show called the Creatures of the Night. There they showed all kinds of night creatures. An otter was trained to show the audience how to recycle and he put plastic bottles, tins in their boxes. That was a good show.

Then we went to Sentosa Island. When we arrived we went for a 4D show. It was exciting.

I also went to the under water world where I touched a star fish and a huge Ray fish. In the evening there was a show called the Sounds of the Sea.

It was a water, fire and laser show. I liked it a lot. But it was very short.After that when we were packing to go to Sri Lanka a monkey came and sat on our hotel balcony.

Srilanka, Kandy Colombo

Sri Lanka was a boring place for me. We drove a lot and saw lot of places.

We saw the Buddha Temple of Tooth where Buddha’s tooth is kept. It must be rotten by now as they don’t brush it everyday and it is 2000 years old! We drove through a lot of jungles and saw some historic spots. At Kandy

I enjoyed swimming in the pool at Earl’s Regency Hotel.
